As for the query method of the US tariff list, many friends said that they still did not know how to query. Today, we will popularize more comprehensive query skills.

How to query US HTS code and import tariff?

The official website of the US International Trade Commission:

http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/bychapter/index.htm

Query method:

1. query HTS Code: go to the above website and search the current harmonized tariff schedule under Tariff assistance Enter the first six digits of China HS code in the search box under, such as table lamp 940520*****, the left border of the search results page has detailed HTS code, and select HTS code according to your own products.

2. query import tariff: in the search page, the left column of rates of duty 1 "general" is the general import tariff rate, and the right column "special" is the import tariff rate levied by the United States on specific countries.

Remind everyone that when exporting to the United States, remember to take the initiative to check whether the product is included in the tax list, and take the initiative to contact the U.S. buyer to verify the situation. Whether it is an order under DDP terms or Amazon's operation in the United States, it is necessary to confirm the customs clearance duties in the United States in advance.

How to query whether my product is on the US tariff list?

Continuing our query on the HTS code in the previous step, we can see that there are several columns in "rates of duty" for specific products. Which column should we look at?

"General" in "1" refers to the tariff of most imported products from the world (including China), "special" refers to the import tariff of countries with relevant free trade agreements with the United States (often free, but it is not for Chinese enterprises);

"2" refers to the import tariff of special countries with trade restrictions (such as North Korea) that have no trade relationship with the United States.

Therefore, we are looking at the tax rate of "general". At this time, many people would like to ask: "the general" tax rate has not changed and has not been increased by 25%. Does this mean that the product has not been increased in the end?

Please note whether you have a small "1" behind your "general" and continue to read the following.

We take the tax number "8408.10.00 marine propulsion engine" within the scope of US tax increase as an example to demonstrate that this product has been included in the first batch of US $34billion tax increase list. Previously, its import tax rate was shown at "general" as 2.5%. But now it is followed by a "1", which shows that let's go to the subtitle "9903.88.01".

Continue to query "9903.88.01" on the web page. It is clearly mentioned here that this part of Chinese products will be subject to the applicable tax rate plus 25%.

Articles the product of China, as enumerated in U.S. note 20 to this subchapter.

The duty provided in the applicable subheading plus 25%.

What is the reference to "note 20" in this sentence? On the "chapter" page, I found this note 20, which is an explanation of the tax increase on Chinese products. It is clearly stated here that 25% is an additional tax rate. The codes under "9903.88.01" are also listed below.

Some friends said: I checked my products. There is no note with "1" after "general". Is this a tax increase or not? After a try, it is true that some products do not show tax increases, but they are in the PDF list. It is suggested that the tariff list should prevail. What if the official website of the United States has not updated the data?

Therefore, it is suggested that: first, check the HTS code in the tariff list document to see whether the product is within the scope of additional levy; If yes, check the tax rate on the official website of the US International Trade Commission (i.e. the website mentioned above); Or reconfirm with the buyer of the order whether the product should be taxed.
