High-speed steel drill

High speed steel (HSS) is a kind of tool steel with high hardness, high wear resistance and high heat resistance, also known as high-speed tool steel or front steel, commonly known as white steel. High speed steel tool is a kind of tool that is stronger and easier to cut than ordinary tools.

The titanium plated drill bit is also a high-speed steel titanium plated drill bit. The titanium plated drill bit tells the steel drill bit that the hardness is extremely high (the hardness can reach hrc78, on the premise that the real industrial plating is required, not the decorative plating)

1. the hardness of high-speed steel is between hrc51-55. After the hardness of the workpiece reaches HRC35, it cannot be drilled. After titanium plating, the hardness of the drill bit can reach about hrc68, and the workpiece can be drilled with hrc48;

2. after the bit is coated with titanium, the wear resistance and high temperature resistance are significantly improved, and the service life of the bit is increased

3. after the drill bit is plated with titanium, its color is like gold and its appearance is beautiful

4. after the drill bit is plated with titanium, the factory can raise the price a lot and increase the profit of the factory

5. the bit coated with titanium can reduce the red heat of the bit and increase the drilling progress of the bit

However, more than 95% of the titanium plated drill bits in the market are fake, because most of the publicity that the titanium plated drill bits are only decorative plating, just to achieve the effect of the color of the titanium plated drill bits, so in order to distinguish these two kinds of titanium plating, the fake is called decorative plating, and the real is called industrial plating.

Carbide drill

High speed steel has better toughness, strength and heat resistance than carbon tool steel, and its cutting speed is much higher than carbon tool steel (iron carbon alloy), so it is named high speed steel; The performance of hard alloy steel is better than that of high-speed steel, and the cutting speed can be increased by 2-3 times.

High speed steel bit also belongs to alloy bit! General tool steel also belongs to alloy steel, which is just iron carbon alloy. High speed steel also includes ordinary high-speed steel and high-quality high-speed steel. Therefore, now alloy drill bits generally refer to cemented carbide drill bits. The high-speed steel drill bit can maintain high hardness under high heat generated by high-speed cutting (about 500 ℃), and the HRC can be above 60. Cemented carbide bits (generally made of tungsten steel) have a series of excellent properties such as high hardness, wear resistance, good strength and toughness, heat resistance and corrosion resistance. In particular, their high hardness and wear resistance remain basically unchanged even at 500 ℃ and still have very high hardness at 1000 ℃.

Cobalt bit

Cobalt containing bit is a bit containing the chemical element cobalt Co, which is generally added to the raw materials of high-speed steel. The purpose of adding cobalt is to improve the high-temperature resistance and abrasion resistance of the bit, so as to achieve the purpose of drilling. In practice, it is generally used to process stainless steel, copper and aluminum products. These products all have high strength characteristics, that is, poor plasticity. In the process of drilling these materials, the cuttings discharged are attached to the drill bit. In order to solve this problem, later generations invented cobalt containing drill bits; In case of high temperature, the ordinary drill bit will expand rapidly, and the constant torque applied by the drill handle will break the drill bit itself, or the drill tip flanging cannot be used; In a word, cobalt containing drill is a high-speed steel that is added with the chemical element cobalt to cut high grinding and easy to produce high-temperature metal.

What drill is used to process stainless steel?

Stainless steel is characterized by high toughness and easy sticking. Therefore, the drill bit is required to have high hardness and good surface finish. The vertex angle of the drill bit is larger than that of the ordinary drill bit (between 130-135 degrees). At the same time, the cooling shall be sufficient. And the feed rate is greater than 0.15mm so as not to cut the cold work hardened layer as much as possible. The cutting speed shall be as low as possible to reduce the cutting temperature. The cutting fluid is a concentrated emulsion. The commonly used bits for processing stainless steel are: high cobalt bits (M35 bits, M42 bits), of which M42 bits have the best cost performance. In addition, hard alloy drill bits can be used, but the price is higher.
